Get the right plum brandy!

3 heaping spoons of sugar
one cup of plum brandy (Serbian Slivovitz please)
3 cups of water

Toss three heaping spoons of sugar in a saucepan and heat until it starts to caramelize.
A bit of smoke is ok. Setting off your smoke detector is not ok.
Add one cup of plum brandy and don't get excited when the sugar turns to stone. It will melt.
Continue heating until it starts to boil. Let it boil for exactly 20 seconds.
Add three cups of water, bring back to a boil for one minute.
